The Museum of Glass Wants to See What’s in Your Cupboard
Have a glass vase, bowl or other piece whose history you’ve always wondered about? Museum of Glass is inviting visitors to bring their glass to What Is My Glass Worth? on Saturday, October 17. Experts will examine pieces and share insights into their value, collecting and authenticity.

Tacoma’s German Beer Hall Has New Owners
There’s been a change behind the scenes at Berliner Beerhall. The News Tribune reports that the German restaurant at South 24th Street and Pacific Avenue has new owners, though the transition was deliberately low-key.
For regulars, the news comes after a remarkable journey: the beer hall took a decade to open, only to have its first attempt interrupted by the pandemic. Now, another chapter is underway at one of downtown Tacoma’s most distinctive gathering places.

This Tacoma Family Business Is Nearly 80 Years Old—and You May Own Its Work
A magnet from a national park. A snow globe from a landmark. A souvenir you brought home years ago. Some of those vacation keepsakes have a surprising connection to South Tacoma: Smith-Western designs and markets products for tourist destinations around the country.
The family business began with postcards sold from a car trunk in 1947 and is approaching its 80th anniversary. Its showroom offers a glimpse of how a Tacoma company became part of so many travelers’ memories.
