A speed-camera notice is not usually the kind of mail that improves your day. But at Coles Bar & Grill in Ruston, it may come with a silver lining: bring in a citation from one of the city’s speed cameras and you can claim a free dessert.
The offer is limited to citations issued by the City of Ruston. The choices include a root beer float, brownie sundae or deep-fried Oreo. It’s a sweet deal, though probably not worth testing the cameras to get one.
The idea came after the bar’s manager received a warning for speeding himself. Coles shared the promotion online, pitching itself as “the silver lining” to a ticket. Ruston activated five speed cameras in September and began issuing citations this month.
