Fondi's Pizzeria - Tacoma Local Minute

Fondi’s Proctor Pizzeria Is Closing This Saturday

Fondi Pizzeria’s stay in Tacoma’s Proctor District is coming to an end. The restaurant says its location at 2515 N. Proctor St. will close Saturday, October 3, about 17 months after it opened in April 2025. Fondi’s original restaurant in Gig Harbor will remain open.

The Proctor opening brought Fondi’s hand-stretched, sourdough-based pizzas across the Narrows Bridge, along with salads and other Italian favorites. It took over a prominent neighborhood space that had previously housed The Blind Pig and, before that, Europa Bistro. For Fondi, it was a chance to build a second home for a restaurant already familiar to many South Sound diners.

In its closure announcement, Fondi thanked the Proctor community for welcoming the business. The restaurant said its fresh, made-from-scratch ingredients are expensive and labor-intensive, and the Tacoma location did not become profitable enough to keep operating. It did not announce plans for another Tacoma location.

Customers with Proctor gift certificates or reward points will still be able to use them at Fondi’s Gig Harbor restaurant. The company says neither will expire because of the closure. That location, at 4621 Point Fosdick Dr. NW, will continue serving the Fondi menu.

The short run makes this a disappointing turn for a restaurant that had invested in the neighborhood and promoted an after-school pizza special for local families. It also leaves another change ahead for one of Proctor’s familiar dining spaces. Fondi has not said what might occupy the address next.

Fondi shared the news directly with customers in its message to the Proctor District available here. Anyone hoping to visit before the closure may want to confirm the restaurant’s final service hours before heading over.
