Tacoma residents who need legal help but aren't sure where to turn can stop by the Moore Branch of Tacoma Public Library this afternoon for a free legal aid pop-up.
The drop-in event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Aug. 27, at the Moore Branch, located at 215 S. 56th St. in Tacoma.
The idea behind the pop-up is simple: bring legal assistance into a familiar neighborhood location and make it easier for people to connect with help without having to start by navigating the legal system on their own.
And the price is hard to beat: free.
Tacoma Public Library has been hosting free legal-aid pop-ups at neighborhood branches as part of its community programming. Similar clinics have been offered in partnership with local legal-aid organizations, giving residents an opportunity to get information, resources and guidance about legal problems.
Thursday's event is listed as a drop-in program, so residents can stop by during the two-hour window rather than attending a scheduled class or presentation.
That can be particularly useful for people who have a legal problem but don't know whether they need an attorney, what resources are available or even where to begin.
The Moore Branch is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, with the legal-aid pop-up taking place from 2 to 4 p.m.
No legal problem? There's another kind of free help happening at Moore at almost exactly the same time: the library is also offering Tech Help from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday for people who need assistance with computers or technology.
So whether your problem involves paperwork or a stubborn piece of technology, the library might be a useful stop Thursday afternoon.
