Proctor is turning up the flavor this weekend.
The Proctor Food Fest returns Sunday, Aug. 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for an afternoon of local food, live music and neighborhood fun in Tacoma’s Historic Proctor District. The event takes place around North 27th and Proctor Streets and is open to the public.
Food is naturally the main attraction, and organizers have assembled a lineup of 15 local food and drink vendors. Visitors can choose from everything from pizza, gyros and lumpia to crepes, macarons, shaved ice and aguas frescas.
The scheduled vendors are Aba Macarons, Alaska Weathervane Scallop Truck, Aloha Lounge, Cut the Crepe, Dawgeatdogs, El Guero Aguas Frescas, Iscreamery PNW, Jessica’s Kusina, La Cocina de Jalisco, Lumpia Love, OMG Gyros, Ono Ice Shack, Puget Sound Pizza, Seven Son’s Kitchen and Wanted Coffee Company.
And you may want to arrive hungry. That lineup means it should be possible to graze your way through several different cuisines without leaving the neighborhood.
Food isn't the only thing on the schedule. Live music will run throughout the event, with performances from James Coates, Cody Bartels, Yungstf, Belle et Bete and I Blame Beatrice.
The festival is presented by the Proctor District Association and Pacific Northwest Shop, with support from neighborhood businesses and organizations.
For anyone who hasn't spent much time in Proctor lately, the festival also provides a good excuse to explore the district itself. The neighborhood's shops, restaurants and businesses will be right in the middle of the activity.
The combination makes this less of a traditional sit-down food festival and more of a neighborhood summer afternoon: grab something to eat, listen to some music, wander around Proctor and come back for dessert.
