Tacoma’s Chowdown Festival Set for July 11

Tacoma’s Chowdown Festival is bringing a full day of food, music, and culture to the city on Saturday, July 11.

The one-day festival is billed as Tacoma’s premier food and culture festival, with food vendors, food trucks, cultural cuisine from around the world, live music, DJs, tastings, family-friendly activities, and VIP lounge experiences. This year’s event also ties into the celebration of America’s 250th birthday, giving the festival a patriotic summer backdrop.

One of the main attractions is the $10,000 Chef Showdown, a high-energy cooking competition where chefs will battle for cash, bragging rights, and recognition from both judges and the crowd. The festival also includes a Harajuku fashion show and other entertainment, making it more than just a food-truck gathering.

Chowdown Festival is scheduled for July 11 at Scottish Rite Tacoma, 817 S. Vassault Street. Readers can find ticket information, vendor details, and the full festival lineup on the Chowdown Festival website..

Seattle All-Star Classic Brings Seahawks Stars to Tacoma

The Seattle All-Star Classic is coming back to Cheney Stadium on July 11, bringing celebrity softball, a home run derby, and a night of community-minded competition to Tacoma.

This year’s event will be hosted by Seahawks standouts Rashid Shaheed and Uchenna Nwosu. The fifth annual game is expected to feature a mix of pro athletes, entertainers, and community leaders, with early roster names including Seahawks rookie tight end Elijah Arroyo and linebacker Tyrice Knight. More participants are expected to be announced as the event gets closer.

The All-Star Classic is billed as more than just a game, with proceeds and community partnerships tied to local causes. For Tacoma sports fans, it’s a chance to see familiar names in a much looser setting than a football Sunday — trading helmets and pads for bats, gloves, and a little home run derby bragging rights.

Wine Walk Brings Community Celebration to Proctor

The Proctor Wine Walk is bringing an afternoon of wine, shopping, restaurants, and community connection to one of Tacoma’s most loved business districts.

Guests will stroll through the Proctor District as participating businesses become wine tasting stops, each paired with a featured winery. Tickets include 10 tasting tickets, plus a commemorative wine glass and tote bag per couple. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. at The Blue Mouse Theatre, with tastings running from 2 to 6 p.m.

The event is designed as a fun excuse to gather friends, explore local shops, discover new wines, and support neighborhood businesses. Additional tasting tickets will be available at each sip stop, and organizers say tickets are limited, so early purchase is encouraged.

Proctor Wine Walk is hosted by Tacoma Neighborhoods Together in partnership with the Proctor District Association and Seattle Uncorked. Proceeds help fund community events, neighborhood beautification, and local initiatives that support welcoming neighborhood experiences throughout the year.
