Girls flag football is joining Tacoma Public Schools’ middle-school sports lineup, with tryouts for a new All-City Championship League starting Wednesday, Nov. 4. The season runs through Jan. 7, alongside middle-school volleyball and boys soccer.
The season will culminate in an All-City championship event featuring the top four schools in the district. Tacoma Public Schools says the league will emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, student safety and a positive competitive experience.
The program also gives students a chance to build flag-football skills before high school. District athletics director James Neil said adding the sport creates more opportunities for students to compete and connect with their schools.
Registration is open through FinalForms. Families will get practice and game schedules, eligibility requirements and championship details through participating middle schools.
