Prosser Piano - Tacoma Local Minute

Prosser Piano & Organ plans to close at the end of 2026, as owners Kerry and Gail Prosser retire. The family’s Tacoma piano business began in 1955, and its Tacoma store is now holding a retirement sale.

Duane and Laurie Prosser opened the first store in Tacoma. The company says that over the past 71 years, the family has placed pianos in homes, schools and churches around the Puget Sound region. The News Tribune published a Nov. 3 report that includes an owner’s perspective on the closing.

The final sale includes new and used grand, upright and digital pianos, along with organs, sheet music and store fixtures. The family says the sale is its last and that everything must go, but it has not announced specific item prices.

The Tacoma store is at 5849 Tacoma Mall Blvd., Suite A. The sale is scheduled to run through Dec. 23, 2026, or sooner if inventory is gone. The store’s published hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday; Sundays are by appointment.
