Pentatonix will kick off its “Christmas in the City” tour at the Tacoma Dome on Thursday, Nov. 5. The Grammy-winning a cappella group’s Tacoma stop comes just days after the Oct. 30 release of a deluxe edition of its holiday album, which Mitch Grassi discussed in an interview with The News Tribune.
The group last performed in Tacoma in 2019. Grassi said he doesn’t remember much about that show, but he’s looking forward to making new memories here. He also told the newspaper that audiences in smaller cities can bring especially lively energy when a touring act comes to town.
This year’s show will build on the group’s “Christmas in the City” tour from last year, while adding music from the new album. Grassi said fans can also expect games and audience participation, making the performance more interactive than a set of songs alone.
Pentatonix has become closely associated with the holidays through its Christmas recordings and seasonal tours. Grassi told The News Tribune the group looks forward to returning to that music each year.
