South Tacoma Way is giving visitors a reason to wander this afternoon. A free passport connects shops and restaurants along the corridor, with a prize wheel waiting for people who make enough stops.
There’s also a coffee shop celebration and a one-day return at a neighborhood burger spot. The fun is in seeing where the route takes you.

Tacoma Crabbers Must Sit Out the Fall Reopening

Crab season is reopening in several parts of Puget Sound, but Tacoma’s waters are staying closed. The exception may surprise anyone who expected to put a pot out this fall.
The decision hinges on what remains of the summer catch quota. State fishery managers haven’t ruled out a later opening, but local crabbers have no date to circle yet.

Narrows Bridge and I-5 Lane Closures Are Coming This Weekend

A Saturday trip from Tacoma to Gig Harbor could take longer than usual. Crews will close two lanes of the westbound Narrows Bridge for most of the day to make another emergency repair.
That is not the only road work to plan around. I-5 through Fife will lose lanes overnight, and another nearby ramp is scheduled for work as the weekend begins.
