What Happens When Tacoma’s Artists Take Over the Library?
The Main Library won’t be a quiet place this Saturday. Artists and performers are taking over its rooms for Kaleidoscope, a free afternoon that opens the 25th year of Tacoma Arts Month.
You can follow the music, make something with your hands or wander into a gallery filled with artists’ takes on the city. There’s plenty to explore, and no set route through it.

An Open Door for LGBTQ+ Young Adults in Tacoma
Finding your people can be difficult, especially when you’re also trying to figure out where to turn for help. A Tacoma gathering called True Color Collective is making space for LGBTQ+ young adults to meet without pressure or a packed agenda.
Some evenings might mean conversation; others could turn into a dance party. Behind that flexibility is a purpose: making connection easier, and making support easier to find when someone needs it.

What Changes When Parks Tacoma Takes Over Breakwater Marina?
The docks aren’t going anywhere, but the operator is changing. On Thursday, Parks Tacoma takes over Breakwater Marina beside Dune Peninsula, adding its on-water slips to the Point Defiance Marina complex.
For the people who keep boats there, the handoff comes with new agreements and rules. For everyone else, it raises a question about the future of this stretch of waterfront: Who will be able to use it, and how?
