Foss Waterway Seaport is hosting a free community night Friday, Aug. 28, with museum activities, music, touch tanks and a lantern paddle on the water.
The event begins at 7 p.m. with a lantern craft, touch tanks, music and tables from local community partners. The lantern paddle starts at 8 p.m., and the evening wraps up at 9.
Admission is completely free. Anyone who wants to join the paddle will need to bring their own equipment, and paddling is at your own risk.
Full details here.
Overnight I-5 Closures Start Monday
Drivers using I-5 through Fife should expect overnight lane closures in both directions beginning Monday, Aug. 17, as work continues on the Port of Tacoma Road Project 2A.
Northbound closures between 20th Street Drive East and Exit 137 will affect the two left lanes Aug. 17–20, then the two right lanes Aug. 24–27, with the middle lane also closing part of the night during that second stretch. Southbound closures will affect the HOV and adjacent lane Aug. 17–20, then the two right lanes Aug. 31–Sept. 3.
The closures begin around 7–7:30 p.m. and end by early morning, with all lanes reopening for daytime traffic. Exits 136, 136A and 136B will remain open throughout the work.
