I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?

You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.

Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?

Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.

The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.

That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.

Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.

Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.

If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

Tacoma Heat Alert

Tacoma and much of Pierce County are headed for a hot stretch this week, with a heat advisory in effect from 10 a.m. today through 11 p.m. tomorrow.

The National Weather Service advisory includes Tacoma, Federal Way, Kent, Renton, South Hill, Elk Plain, Prairie Ridge, and other parts of the lowlands of Pierce and Southern King counties. Tacoma is forecast to reach the mid-90s Tuesday and Wednesday, with Wednesday potentially breaking a daily record high.

Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, check on older neighbors and anyone without air conditioning, and never leave children or pets in parked cars.

Evening Run at the Zoo

Parks Tacoma is hosting an evening walk and run at Point Defiance this Saturday with a fun name and a good cause: Owl Together Now.

The event takes place Saturday, July 25, with a 1-mile walk starting at 6:30 p.m. and a 3-mile run starting at 7 p.m. The course travels through Five Mile Drive and finishes with the last stretch through Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. The route is paved and stroller-friendly, though pets are not allowed because the course enters the zoo.

Half of the entry fees will support Point Defiance AAZK, helping fund conservation work and professional development for zoo staff. July is Zookeeper Awareness Month, making the event a fitting way to get outside, enjoy Point Defiance, and support the people who care for the animals.

A new soccer shop is now open in Tacoma, just as the region’s excitement around the sport continues to build.

Tursi Soccer, an Oregon-based sporting goods retailer, has opened its first Washington location at 3802 S. Cedar St. The shop carries soccer apparel, footwear and equipment.
