California. Texas. The Billboard Hot 100. It's all on Kalshi.

The California governor primary is live right now. So is the Texas Senate race, the 2028 presidential field, and the question of whether Taylor Swift releases a song for Toy Story 5.

Political and cultural markets on Kalshi move in real time — as news breaks, odds shift. Which means someone who reads closely, follows polls, and actually pays attention to what's happening has a genuine edge over someone who doesn't.

On Kalshi, information is the advantage. The platform is federally regulated under the CFTC, with no house edge and no restricted winners. Every dollar traded reflects real collective intelligence about what's going to happen.

If you're already following politics and culture closely, Kalshi turns that attention into an asset.

Free Concerts in Tacoma Parks

Free outdoor concerts are coming to Tacoma parks in August.

The Tacoma Concert Band will perform a four-night summer concert series beginning Monday, August 5 at Wright Park, followed by Tuesday, August 6 at Point Defiance Park, Wednesday, August 7 at STAR Center, and Thursday, August 8 at Wapato Park. Each concert begins at 6:30 p.m. and is free to attend.

Seating is on the lawn, so concertgoers should bring a blanket or chair and settle in for an evening of live music outdoors. The Tacoma Concert Band, entering its 45th season, includes more than 60 musicians and performs a wide range of music, from classical and traditional pieces to pop and modern selections.

The series is a simple summer win: free music, Tacoma parks, and a chance to enjoy one of the region’s long-running community music groups close to home..

Was That A Pear Driving Down The Freeway?

Tacoma got a very unusual visitor last week: a giant green pear on wheels.

The “Pear Car” is actually a motorcycle surrounded by a handmade pear-shaped sculpture, driven by 24-year-old Andrew Glubbey on a cross-country trip from Florida to the West Coast. The sculpture is built from old wood fencing and flattened beer and soda cans, complete with a wooden stem and leaf.

Glubbey was spotted around Tacoma last week, including on 6th Avenue and near the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, drawing attention from drivers and pedestrians along the way. He has been documenting the trip on Instagram, where thousands of people are following his strange, funny, and very pear-shaped journey across the country.

After Tacoma, Glubbey was expected to continue south with stops including Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. His next big idea? A pear-shaped “Pear BNB” in Mississippi — because apparently one giant pear project is not enough.

You can find Glubbey’s Instagram account here.

Roy Rogers at Spanish Ballroom
