A bubble tea run in Proctor can now turn into lunch. La Boba, at 2614 N. Proctor St., has expanded beyond the drinks and desserts that helped put it on the neighborhood’s radar. The News Tribune highlighted the change in an October 4 dining story, reporting that the shop has added savory Vietnamese food priced under $15.

Bánh mì sandwiches are a central part of the expanded menu, with fillings including grilled pork, chicken, beef and lemongrass tofu. The sandwiches pair a toasted baguette with pickled vegetables, cucumber, cilantro and jalapeño. For customers who previously stopped in for something sweet, that’s a different reason to walk through the door.

The food options also extend beyond sandwiches. Rice and vermicelli bowls appear alongside smaller bites such as spring rolls, egg rolls and chicken wings. That gives visitors room to choose between a meal and a snack to accompany their usual drink, rather than making a separate stop for food.

There’s still plenty for anyone whose first thought is bubble tea or dessert. The current menu continues to list milk teas, fruit teas, Vietnamese coffee and croffles, including Oreo and ube varieties. The savory additions broaden the choices without losing the sweet side of the shop.

For Proctor regulars, the useful discovery is that a familiar storefront now offers something they might not have expected to find there. Your next visit could start with a sandwich and finish with the drink you already know—or introduce you to something entirely different.
