Creative Colloquy Crawl - Tacoma Local Minute

The Creative Colloquy Crawl returns to downtown Tacoma on Tuesday, Nov. 10, with events scheduled from 6:30 to 10 p.m. The annual program brings writers, poets and performers into venues around downtown, with several readings and performances running at the same time.

At 6:30 p.m., the Grand Cinema hosts Voices of the Diaspora, a poetry program featuring six poets whose roots include Vietnamese, Latine/x, Persian, Balkan, Tigrayan and Palestinian communities. At Manuscript, the group Women Who Write Together presents writing shaped by women’s perspectives. The program lists both events as open to all ages.

Later stops offer a different mix of forms and themes. The Grand Cinema is scheduled to host a live reading from Belgrave, a supernatural workplace comedy presented as an audio drama, while Manuscript hosts South Side Stories, featuring three writers exploring place. Puget Sound Pizza’s 7:30 p.m. program, a show about nothing, is listed for adults 21 and older.

The 8:30 p.m. schedule includes an audience-participation event billed as ON AIR: Conversations with Frank Herbert, where attendees can join an improvised conversation and read excerpts from Dune. Other choices include a true-crime program about the 1948 Spanaway murder of Noreen McNicholas and a faculty reading at Manuscript featuring UW Tacoma creative-writing faculty. The night’s listed after-party is at Doyle’s Public House’s Snug, a 21-and-over venue, with snacks available while supplies last.
